There were several incentives for me to start a blog site.
One of the first was the introduction to a new hobby. Early in 2021 I was visiting with my friend and favorite scientist, Sam Shepherd. Near the end of our visit, he wanted to show me something, and excused himself as he went to another room to retrieve the objects. He returned with a tray that contained a few samples of dinosaur bones.
I was immediately in awe and had many questions. He went on to quench my thirst for answers, and before I left, he invited me to join a dig in June 2021.
This is when he introduced me to Dino Digs, which you can see streaming on Hulu. There are currently two seasons available.
The dig I was invited to would be at the Harris Ranch, just south of Newcastle, Wyoming. I was excited and made arrangements to attend. It was a great week, but more important that digging for bones was making friends with Mike Harris and son Jake, partner Aaron Bolan and faithful assistant Myron ‘Dakota’ Ptak. As a side note, Myron was responsible for Wednesday evening karaoke on the ranch!
It is easy to see what is meant by ‘big sky’…. with no trees on the horizon, the sky touches the ground!
This guy was not digging, but he was curious!
But this guy WAS digging! (yours, truly)
So much fun! Love the nature
